Youth Programs
The USEF recognizes the importance of education and bringing up the youth of
tommorrow by introducing them to the diversity of horses and equine disciplines.
In 2007, the USEF developed a Youth Council in an effort to expand the base of
young people contributing to the leadership and promotion of equestrian sports
within the USEF. Comprised of 19 talented youth representatives from the USEF's
affiliates, this council is committed to providing equestrian leadership to
support and develop programs within their breed affiliates and disciplines.
As part of the initiatives of the Youth Council, an annual Youth Convention
will be held for the purpose of uniting youth from around the country and growing
equine interest and participation. The Youth Convention features notable speakers
involved in the industry, representatives from various college and university
equestian programs, as well as spokes-persons from equine-related careers.
The USEF also has a Youth Sportsman's Award which is designed to encourage youth
to become leaders in the equine industry from all breeds and disciplines. This
program provides an opportunity for the USEF to recongize outstanding youth members
for their achievements.
