Understanding the Leaderboard
The Developing Horse Series has been created to increase athlete, fan, and organizer participation by utilizing simple criteria and a user friendly leaderboard. The athlete/horse combination with the lowest mean based on their two lowest finishing scores at the levels for their age category. Six-Year-Olds will use their two loswest scores from December to June- all CCI1* and CCI2*s and then July to November- all CCI2*s; and for Seven-Year-Olds their two lowest scores will be from December to June- all CCI2*s and CCI3*s, and then July to November- all CCI3*s.
- For the fans and public, the Series’ aim is for it to be engaging, and interactive through a live leaderboard, and easily shared social content.
- The objective of the leaderboard is that engagement will not be dependent on a fan’s physical attendance at competitions.
- Athlete/horse bios
- Recognition of owners/grooms

Athlete Participation
- The Series is accessible to all U.S. FEI athletes.
- To avoid barriers to entry and improve participation, Athletes will not have to opt-in.
- By entering an FEI competition at the CCI1* through CCI3* level, they will automatically become a contender for a Series Champion title.
Organizer Participation
- Every venue that hosts FEI Eventing levels in the U.S. will provide an opportunity for Athletes to earn contributing scores.
- Organizers do not need to bid or be selected to participate, giving no one an advantage or disadvantage.
- No burden on the organizer in terms of requirements.
- Organizers will be encouraged to host separate YH classes at the 2* and 3* level to enhance the promotion of the horses at these levels. The USEF staff is happy to work with organizers to review their numbers of horses in the applicable age levels.
Fan Participation
-
Similar to the League, the Developing Horse Series provides an opportunity for the USEF Eventing members to engage with fellow competitors, and fans. The more Athletes that are involved, the more Eventing fans we hope to attract.
