Five Tips for Time Management
|
Whether they’re full-time students or have other jobs, many equestrians are balancing their competitive careers with other activities. Though balancing a full life and equestrian career can be difficult, athletes who are successfully managing that balancing act say it is possible to strategize and make the most of your time.
“This sport is just being able to handle the stress and being able to still keep your cool and get things done and be efficient,” said Isabelle Bosley, a three-day event rider who also grooms for Lillian J Heard Eventing in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. “Being able to balance all of that is great in general for helping yourself become better at whatever you're trying to do.”

2023 Eventing Horse Owners Award Recipients
|
The 2023 eventing season has come and gone, but before we look forward to 2024 we would like to recognize eventing owners for all of their contributions to the sport. In 2023, US Equestrian collaborated with eventing owners on how team horse owners could be recognized across all three Olympic disciplines. As a result, a unique Team Horse Owner Pin was created to designate an owner’s commitment to their sport, team spirit, the rider athletes, and, above all, their love of the horse. These pins identify individuals who have made invaluable contributions to the success of U.S. Equestrian Teams on the world stage, inspiring fellow enthusiasts and fostering a sense of camaraderie amongst all equestrians.

2024 LO Grant Applications Now Open
The Federation offers licensed official grants to applicants and current officials wishing to apply for a promotion. These grants are intended to reduce financial barriers for USEF or U.S. FEI officials to complete application requirements. Individuals should take advantage of this opportunity to attend a training session or apprentice at a location where they would normally not be able to travel. The complete list of grant requirements and application is available through the LO Grant Application tile on the LO Dashboard at officials.usef.org. The application deadline is March 1, 2024.

FEI Competency-based Evaluation System (CES) Reminder
All FEI officials are required to complete the annual CES Online Assessment by March 31 at 11:59 p.m. CET (5:59 p.m. ET). The annual CES Online Assessment includes general and discipline-specific modules. All modules are located inside the FEI Campus Dashboard.
The FEI’s objective of the annual CES Online Assessment is to assess “the theoretical understanding of the discipline, officiating skills, and the current FEI rules and regulations in place, to ensure the official is up-to-date.”
If an FEI official does not complete their yearly CES Online Assessment, their license function(s) will be closed. If an FEI official does complete the CES Online Assessment by March 31, they will be ineligible to officiate for the remainder of the year until the assessment is completed. You can review the FEI CES here.

The iEquiTek Precision Rider Award
|
By Bill Hawe, iEquiTek.com
In the fall of 2022 at iEquiTek, we were thinking, what can we do to reward the essence of three-day eventing? Can we give something back to riders to show our appreciation? We wanted to reward what we all have come to love over the many years. We wanted to do something new, something innovative, something fun. There are many awards already, and we didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, or reinvent the flat tire!
We felt that the essence of the Precision Rider Award is jumping accurately and within optimum time on cross-country, in addition to having a clear show jumping round, so let’s reward that! The ability to be successful in all three phases is truly remarkable. But perhaps an athlete’s dressage score has become a focal point in the results. With that, iEquiTek has created an award that instead places emphasis on how athletes compete in cross-country and show jumping.
