Many Winners Hoist Awards at 2019 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS EQUESTRIAN

by US Equestrian Communications Department | Apr 27, 2019, 3:00 PM

Shortly after the last combination has completed the show jumping course on Sunday and the winner of the 2019 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Mars Equestrian has been decided, the awards ceremony will take place in the Rolex Stadium to honor everyone from the overall winner to the best-presented combination at the event's horse inspections. Although several of the trophies are housed in the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park throughout the year, the awards ceremony allows the top performers the chance to hoist their awards high and revel in their achievements in front of a stadium full of eventing fans.

An array of trophies and awards will be presented at Sunday’s post-event ceremonies.

The Land Rover Kentucky First-Place Awards

The Kentucky Three-Day Event Perpetual Trophy is a hand-engraved silver tureen from 1875 presented to the owner of the winning horse. The owner will receive a commemorative silver cup from title sponsor Land Rover North America. In addition, the rider of the winning horse earns a 12-month lease of a 2019 Land Rover Discovery and a Rolex Steel and Gold Oyster Perpetual Timepiece from Rolex, the official timepiece of the event.

Roger Haller Trophy for the Land Rover/USEF CCI5* Eventing National Championship presented by Mars Equestrian

The LRK3DE also serves as the Land Rover/USEF CCI5* Eventing National Championship presented by Mars Equestrian. The top U.S. rider wins the national champion title and the Roger Haller Trophy, presented by US Equestrian in memory of the internationally respected eventing official. Friends and family of Haller came together to commission the bronze trophy designed by 1987 Kentucky Three-Day Event winner and 1996 Olympic individual bronze medalist Kerry Millikin. The national champion also receives a silver picture frame and a championship cooler.

United States Equestrian Team Foundation Pinnacle Cup

The top U.S. rider also receives the Pinnacle Cup from the United States Equestrian Team Foundation.

Highest-Placed Youngest Rider

A silver scallop bowl featuring horse heads on each side, provided by L.V. Harkness, is awarded to the highest-placed youngest rider. The rider takes home a contemporary glass bowl and cooler.

The Kentucky Cup

The Kentucky Cup is a unique award that acknowledges competitors who have completed the event five times and each multiple of five thereafter. Recipients earn a Louisville Stoneware tumbler.

$20,000 Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge

While the LRK3DE is an individual event, the $20,000 Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge began in 2013 as a friendly way to mimic the pressures of team competition. Teams consist of three to four members, and each national or mixed national team has members selected based on its top four FEI World Eventing Athlete Rankings per country. Teams are announced after the first horse inspection on Wednesday, and the final placings are decided once the event comes to a close on Sunday.

For more information about the awards, pick up an event program if you are on site or view the LRK3DE website.
