- Lauren Hester (Rancho Santa Fe, CA) broke new ground for herself on Sunday, June 16th by winning her first Grand Prix class in Europe. In Asten, The Netherlands, Hester rode her ten-year-old KWPN Mare Warinde B (Padimus x Eikstein) to the fastest of two double clear efforts, and the win.

Thirteen horses from a field of 62 returned for the jump-off at the CSI2* Grand Prix at CSI Asten. Of those only Warinde and Coriander Van't Vennehof, piloted by Vincent Voorn, managed to clear the course fault free. With a quick clear time of 38.50s Hester and Warinde were more than a whole second faster than Voorn and Coriander.

"My horse Warinde was jumping amazing the whole week," said Hester after her victory, "so when I walked the course I had no doubt in my mind we could pull off a clear round. I have never really pushed her to go fast, but the jump off was mostly short turns. There were only two double clear and thirteen clear in the first round. I was very excited and happy to have my first European Grand Prix win and first Grand Prix win on that horse."
