Aachen, Germany- The United States produced top results for a second day running at the 2013 CHIO Aachen. In CAIO-4 competition, Chester Weber seized his second victory of the week as the U.S. Team stands in second place. In the Lambertz FEI Nations Cup, the U.S. Dressage Team put forth a polished effort to earn third-place honors. The American jumpers again went head-to-head with many of the best in the world in Aachen’s prestigious Main Stadium, while the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team is ready to kickoff CICO3* competition on Friday.

Driving

Chester Weber (Ocala, FL) continues to drive like a man on a mission at the Aachen CAIO-4, winning the driven dressage for a second time in as many days. Driving his own Para and Senate along with Jane Clark’s Splash and Uniek, Weber topped the Prize of Martello Immobilienmanagement GmbH & Co. KG with a score of 38.21.

Weber, a four-time FEI World Championship medalist and nine-time USEF Four-in-Hand National Champion, currently leads the individual competition in Aachen after topping the Preis der Fa. Horsch on Wednesday.

The U.S. is also being represented by Jimmy Fairclough (Newtown, NJ) at the Aachen CAIO-4. The five-time USEF National Champion drove a leased team from Koos de Ronde in an improved effort over Wednesday’s Preis der Fa. Horsch test. On Thursday, Fairclough scored 60.29 for 22nd place.

The Prize of Martello Immobilienmanagement GmbH & Co. KG marked the first phase of Team competition in the CAIO-4. The United States currently stands in second place after Thursday on a score of 98.5. Leading the competition is the Dutch Team on a total of 87.29; the team from Germany lies third with a score of 100.8.

Driving competition continues Friday with the Prize of Soers cones phase, which will be counted towards Individual standings.

Dressage
The U.S. Dressage Team emphatically marked their resurgence with a podium finish in Wednesday’s Lambertz FEI Nations Cup at the Aachen CDIO5*. The U.S. Team of Steffen Peters, Tina Konyot, Jan Ebeling and Shelly Francis earned a third-place finish on a team total of 217.298.

Dressage competition continues in Aachen tomorrow with the CDI-U25 and CDI4* competition. Caroline Roffman (Wellington, FL) will represent the U.S. for the first time in Aachen CDI-U25 competition with Hyperion Farm, Inc.'s Sagacious HF on Friday. Susie Dutta (Wellington, FL) will represent the U.S. in the CDI4* performing the FEI Grand Prix Special Test with Tim Dutta Inc.’s Currency DC.

Jumping

The U.S. jumpers contested another day of competition against star-studded fields of competitors in the Main Stadium. Laura Kraut (Royal Palm Beach, FL) rode Stars and Stripes’ eight-year-old Hanoverian gelding Bonito R to an 11th place finish in the Sparkassen Youngsters Cup after having a clear round with a time of 71.88 seconds. In the STAWAG Preis class, Kraut and Joan Kalman and the Freedom Group’s 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Woodstock O had a four-fault round and a time of 65.85 seconds to finish in 18th place. In the same class, Beezie Madden (Cazenovia, New York) and Abigail Wexner’s 11-year-old Danish Warmblood mare Vanilla had an eight-fault round with a time of 65.66 seconds to finish in 32nd place.

Eventing

The Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team heads to a mecca of horse sport this week to compete at the Aachen CICO3* for the first time. The United States will be represented by four formidable combinations looking to showcase the form that has earned them top placings and accolades throughout the 2013 season. Clark Montgomery , Tiana Coudray, Marilyn Little and Will Faudree have all received Land Rover Competition Grants to compete against many of the best in the world in Aachen.
