Youth Reiners Gear Up for Top Level Competition in Oklahoma City

Lexington, KY- The future of reining in the U.S. will be on display this weekend in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma’s State Fair Arena as a group of talented youth goes head-to-head for National Titles. Competitors will not only vie for USEF National Championships but also selection for July’s Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North. National Championship and Selection Trial competition will be held July 29 in conjunction with NRHA Derby.

USEF National Youth Reining 13 & Under Championship

A small but mighty field is set for the USEF National Youth Reining Championships in the 13 & under division. Hannah Lovrein (Jonesboro, AR) will ride her own Quick Resolve in her quest to earn her first USEF National Title. Alex Johnston of Brentwood, Tennessee will ride her own Mr. Get Smart as she too tries to claim her first USEF National Youth Reining Championship. Also in the field is Emma Taylor (Martin, TN), who has won five of the six competitions she has entered this year with Camiel Taylor’s Royal Chexy Lady.

Rounding out the field is Emmy-Lu Marsh (Tallulah, LA) who topped the qualifying in the 13 & Under division. She will ride Virginia Marsh’s Talk About That Jac on Saturday.

USEF National Youth Reining 14-18 Championship

In the USEF National Youth Reining 14-18 Championship, a field of 11 lines up including the 2012 reigning champion. Elizabeth Cosper (Leland, NC) returns to Oklahoma City with her sights set on becoming a back-to-back champion. On Saturday she will ride her own Whata Dream.

Three medalists from the 2012 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North will look to translate NAJYRC experience into National Titles. Meloney Morris (Memphis, TN) and Nick Taylor (Martin, TN) were teammates on last year’s Junior Gold medal winning team; they will ride Mr. Lonely and Outlaw Whiz, respectively. Kaylan Marks (Yorktown, TX) earned Team and Individual Bronze in the Junior Championship and looks to add to her resume with Tagged My Chic this weekend.

CRIJY NAJYRC Selection Trial

In conjunction with the USEF National Youth Reining Championships a CRIJY NAJYRC Selection Trial will also be held for those wishing to qualify for the 2013 Adequan/FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North.

A group of 10 reiners line up for CRIJY competition, six of which are also looking to earn National Titles; Lovrein, Taylor and Marks are all in this field.
Competitors will ride the same pattern in the National Championship and Selection Trial.
