Saturday’s Big Tour competition had a very convincing winner with the USA’s Nicholas Dello Joio and his 11-­-year-­-old Zangersheide gelding Carlos VHPZ (by Chelanno x Voltaire). He clocked the fastest time as 13th rider and none of the remaining 30 competitors on the startinglist could better that time. It must be in his genes. His father Norman Dello Joio has had an impressive jumping career. Highlight without doubt were the  World Cup  title in 1983 (Vienna, Austria) with his famous stallion I Love You and the individual bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona with Irish. Almost 4 seconds slower Britain’s William Funnell finished runner-­-up with Billy Balou. Holland’s Leopold van Asten took third place with VDL Groep Quinthago Z.

There was 1.40m against the clock class for the Medium Tour riders. It was Abigail McArdle (USA) who was the fastest with the 10-­-year-­-old Hannoverian mare Cosmo 20 (by Couleur Rubin x Stakkato). She also won class with this horse yesterday.

The competition for young horses was won by Holland’s Emile Tacken who rode an incredible fast round with the seven-­-year-­-old KWPN mare Bruminka (Numero Uno x Acord). He was over 3 seconds faster than second placed Karel Cox from Belgium with the seven-­-year-­-old BWP stallion Gentleman (Couleur Rubin x Clinton).

The three following classes were all won by lady riders: Alexandra Cherubini (USA) and Equifit Carlos (HANN, Contendro x Godehard) won the 1.15m class, Joanne Sloan-­-Allen (IRL) won the 1.25m competition with Chekane (ISH, Countach x Lombard) and victory in the Special Invitational went to Dorothy Cox (USA) and the 12-­-year-­-old mare Joy Ride (Ojasper x Burggraaf).

Today’s Small Tour competiton was won by Leopold van Asten with VDL Groep Amelie, a  14-­-year-­-old mare by Luidam.
