Cal Poly Pomona to Celebrate 75 Years at the W.K.Kellogg Arabian Horse Center

As a part of Cal Poly Pomona’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center will be holding a weekend of festivities for friends, supporters and alumni.  Plans have been set for this once-in-a-lifetime event that will be held on Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6, 2013 at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Planned events include a “Santa Maria Style” Dinner, dancing and entertainment on Saturday, October 5, 2013, including a “Roast and Toast” for everyone to share their memories.  Pictorial and video presentations featuring some of Cal Poly’s leading horses and riders will be shown at the Arabian Horse Center.

Tours of the Kellogg Mansion, the brand new W.K. Kellogg Arabian horse library, the original Kellogg stables and the Arabian Horse Center will also be available on Sunday.

Of special interest will a book signing by the renowned author of “The Romance of the Kellogg Ranch” by Mary Jane Parkinson.  The book covers the first 75 years of the Kellogg Ranch and is in high demand by all those who love the Arabian horse.  Mary Jane Parkinson is also the Editor of the Arabian Horse World.  Copies of “The Romance of the Kellogg Ranch” will be available for purchase at the event.  All proceeds from the book sales will go to support the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center.

On Sunday, October 6th in addition to the regular Sunday Arabian Horse Show exhibition, former students will be riding/driving their own horses as well as Cal Poly horses to make this Sunday show one of the most special ever! Also planned is a viewing of Arabian horse breeding stock and “stars of tomorrow.”

A raffle and auctions are also being planned as a part of the weekend’s festivities. An auction will feature an original oil painting by Kari Albiol.
