- The first day of the Devon Fall Classic was sticky and humid, but the riders braved the heat and the lingering promise of rain. While the riders in the 30 Meter Jumpers walked the course, their horses paced anxiously back and forth in the warm-up ring. The course was challenging, with hard lines, a tight triple, and some sharp rollbacks. Coles chose a particularly tight rollback in her jump off round, clearing with no faults and a score of 33.178. Next, Devin Ryan rode a petite Zopala who handled her turns well but struggled in the triple. Next came Seth VallHonrat on Coolensky, a young, leggy dapple grey, who racked up ten time faults albeit a clear round. Kevin Babington on Bigua had a clean first round, easily gliding over the jumps. In the jump off Babington was careful and clean, but he still couldn't beat Coles's time. On Tail Wind Devon Ryan zipped around turns and showed true athleticism through the triple, ending the first round with no faults. His jump off round put him in third, just a few tenths of a second behind Babington.

Ryan returned on Quandorette Z, who  flew through the jump off, finally overcoming Coles score with a 31.378. When Sloane Coles returned she had a clean first round, making it to the jump off. She rode amazingly, and it looked as though she would beat Devin Ryan, until she took a pole on the very last jump. Devin Ryan took home first on Quandorette Z, with Andrew Ross on Electra bringing home second, and Coles taking home third on Tito. Despite ending up in third, Coles is certainly a rider to watch.
