Madden Earns a 3rd, Dinan a 4th, Friday in Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain - Friday at at CSIO5* Barcelona was dissapointing for the U.S. Nations Cup Team, but two members of that team did earn good finishes in individual competition. In the morning, Katie Dinan (Wellington, Florida) put aside studying for Harvard mid-terms to earn a fourth place finish in the Estrella Damm Trophy Speed class. She finished without a fault in 69.25s on Grant Road Partners LLC's Glory Days. Brazil's Alvaro de Miranda Neto won the class with a 66.42s ride abord ad Norson. After jumping a clear round in the Nations Cup competition, Beezie Madden continued her good day by finishing third in the Longines Cup. Though Madden (Casenovia, New York) and Abigail Wexner’s Cortes ‘C had a rail down in the first round, they were the fastest of the four fault pairs and quailified for the twelve horse second round. They took advantage of the chance and jumped a clear round. With only the four total faults, and a couple of quick rounds, they earned the third place finish behind Michael Whitaker of Great Britain, and winner Patrice Delaveau of France.
