Asbury, NJ
- The Asbury Classic is thrilled to announce increased prize money for the popular horse show running October 10-13, 2013 at the Ridge at Riverview in Asbury, NJ. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of B.W. Furlong and Associates and Hermitage Farm, increased prize money classes include the $25,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix sponsored by Hermitage Farm, the $7,500 Welcome Stake, the $2,500 Futures Grand Prix and the $2,500 Asbury Jumper Derby all sponsored by B.W. Furlong and Associates.

The Asbury Classic has been continually well received by exhibitors, and now with newly added incentive, available stalls are filling up rapidly. View the updated prize list here, and get entries in today using the entry blanks available here.

The Ridge at Riverview is run by Olympian Nona Garson, and her partner, George D'Ambrosio, and is a jewel to the city of Asbury with rolling open fields, a large grand prix ring, hunter ring and a derby field with natural obstacles reminiscent of the traditional hunt field. The grounds have both grass and sand mixed with all-weather footing. With top quality facilities and management, the Asbury Classic consistently attracts some of the sports leading riders.

Olympic Silver Medalist, Peter Leone stated, "What an unexpected pleasure to compete at the Asbury Classic. I felt like I was at a country show, like the ones I attended when I was a boy, except the facility is at today's evolved competition standards. The show offered friendly management, and lots of prizes: trophies, grooming boxes, coolers, and certificates, not like most of today's shows where all you win is a ribbon and a check."

Ken Berkley, a seasoned competitor in both hunter and jumper rings who runs River's Edge in Flemington, NJ, along with top professional hunter rider Scott Stewart, remarked about the Asbury Classic, "This show is awesome. I arrived to a happy, upbeat atmosphere and the footing in the jumper ring was as good as anywhere in the country. The ring is huge, a perfect size to gallop!"

The $25,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix, sponsored by Hermitage Farm, will be a highlight event of the show and is set to take place on Sunday, October 13.  The Asbury Classic also offers the $7,500 B.W. Furlong and Associates Open Jumper Welcome Class and the $2,000 Futures Grand Prix, held on the beautiful derby field and catering to the less experienced horse and rider combinations.
