NCEA Announces Latest Team Rankings

– Several changes are seen in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings, which include results from the opening two weeks of competition and were released Thursday by the NCEA Selection Committee.

Georgia remains the nation’s No. 1 team following a 16-3 win against Fresno State on Sunday. Auburn downed Fresno State 15-2 on Saturday and stays at No. 2. South Carolina is No. 3, following two wins on the year against Kansas State and Fresno State.

Kansas State moved up to No. 4 nationally, following wins against Oklahoma State and Delaware State. Oklahoma State drops one spot to No. 5 in the latest rankings.

Texas A&M, which has yet to compete, is No. 6, while Baylor, which picked up three wins at the Willis Invitational, remains at No. 7.

TCU, which has not competed this season, is No. 8. SMU, which earned wins against New Mexico State and previous No. 10 UT-Martin, is ranked this week at No. 9. NMSU is the nation’s 10th-ranked team following two wins at the Willis Invitational against previously ranked South Dakota State and UT-Martin.

NCEA rankings will be released twice per month with the next announcement coming Monday, Oct. 14.  

The 2014 NCEA Championships take place April 17-19 in Waco, Texas, marking the first year one championship will be contested, rather than separate championships by disciplines.
