“We made some early-season mistakes today and they cost us the meet,” Texas A&M Head Coach Tana McKay said, and she may have been right, but the lack of mistakes and overall good riding by the Wildcats had just as much to do with it.
The K-State hunt seat team earned a close 3-2 win to start the day well in equitation over fences, and the team didn't give up another point all day. The wildcats won equitation on the flat 4-0, Horsemanship 5-0, and Reining 5-0.
“It was a great improvement from last weekend,” said Kansas State head coach Casie Maxwell. “It was a hard competition. Texas A&M has a great team, so it was great to see our girls step-up across the board in all four events today."
Kansas State is now 3-1 and competes again on October 18th at Baylor.
