Langer Equestrian Group, Inc., jumped into the new year with record entries at the LAEC Opener, January 20-22. The USEF A-rated show attracted over 300 horses and riders to the first major show of the new year. "We've had really great weather, and I think that everyone could get their horses out and were looking forward to a nice show," said Langer Equestrian Group President Larry Langer.
The new show season attracts new faces and new horses. Archie Cox found another winner to add to his string of top open, junior and amateur hunters. He bought the handsome eight year old warmblood, Quality Time, from Cynthia Williams. "It is really great," said Cox "because Cynthia was my trainer when I was a junior." Cox showed Quality Time to the championship in the Second Year Green, and owner Laura Wasserman took over riding duties in the Modified Junior/Amateur Hunters and the Amateur Owner 36 & Over Hunters. Wasserman was champion with her veteran Jimmie Choo in the Modified Junior/Amateur section, and reserve champion with Quality Time. She was also reserve champion with Jimmy Choo in the Amateur Owner section.
Allison Van Sickle showed her new equitation horse, Valiant, and under Jeni Brown's tutelage she won the CPHA Junior Medal and finished second in the USEF Junior Medal. She also rode her two jumpers, Amazing Grace and Blue Bayou, to consistent ribbons in the Junior/Amateur Owner Jumpers.
Exhibitors enjoyed sunny skies throughout the three-day horse show. The next Langer Equestrian Group show is Gold Coast 1, February 17-19, the first of the seven-show Gold Coast Series.
