American Driving Society Announces Plans for North American Championship

Cross Plains, Wis.
- The American Driving Society (ADS) is pleased to announce plans for a new head-to-head driven North American Championship, in addition to the popular calculated Intermediate Championship offered since 2009. The North American Preliminary and the North American Intermediate Championships will be driven championships, each taking place over a single competition weekend. The original Championship will be renamed The North American Calculated Intermediate Championship and remains open to all ADS Intermediate level drivers.

The host venues will be selected in the next month.  The venues will likely change location year after year, moving around North America so drivers in various areas can travel to compete.

These additional championships are being offered to provide an opportunity for ADS level drivers to meet and compete and to create additional enthusiasm for the sport of Carriage Driving.  Further, the program provides a championship challenge to Preliminary drivers, because the calculated championship is offered exclusively to Intermediate drivers.

All updates on this exciting new program can be found on the “Awards Programs” section of www.americandrivingsociety.org. The 2014 program is experimental and organizers and ADS leaders will work to ensure the program continues to improve.
