Dates Set for Southwest’s Premiere Equestrian Event for Arabian Horses

by By the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona | Feb 9, 2006, 2:34 AM

The Arabian Horse Association of Arizona (AHAA) announced the dates for its 51st Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show scheduled for February 2006. The annual event, billed as one of the largest horse shows in the world, will run from February 17-26 at West World in North Scottsdale.

New to the 2006 show will be a Arabian Reining Futurity class that has projected over $80,000 in prize money. With the support of the Arabian Reining Horse Association, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona has hired five NRHA judges to judge all of the reining classes at the Scottsdale Show (many of which are NRHA-sanctioned). “We are extremely excited to have fantastic NRHA judges at the Scottsdale Show. We really feel that with the growth of reining and the prize money involved, it was imperative that we bring in five strong judges,” explains President Bill Flood.

Each year this event draws over 2,000 of the world’s finest Arabian horses and their owners to the upper Sonoran desert to compete for the coveted title of “Scottsdale Champion.” Known for its elegant beauty, versatility, athleticism and endurance, many Arabian horses will compete in hundreds of events. You can see the best in the world competing during the 2006 show.

The show is more than an equestrian event--it is a shopper’s paradise. This year’s event will host over 300 commercial vendors that offer something for everyone. Artists and craftsmen from around the globe will bring fine art, fine clothing, exotic jewelry, equestrian items and much more.

The most exciting result from the show each year is the thousands of dollars that is raised for charity. For 50 years, AHAA has been a strong supporter of worthy organizations. There is no cap on the amount the AHAA can donate so the larger the show proceeds are, the larger the donations will become.
