Blythewood, S.C. - Top-seeded South Carolina and second-seeded Georgia each won Southeastern Conference Equestrian Championship semifinal matchups on Friday at One Wood Farm to advance to the 2014 SEC Equestrian Championship Round.
South Carolina (12-2) defeated fourth-seeded Texas A&M (2-9), 12-7, while Georgia (10-3) bested third-seeded Auburn (10-4), 12-8.
The championship round, featuring South Carolina and Georgia, will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET Saturday. The consolation round, featuring Auburn and Texas A&M, will tentatively begin at 1:10 p.m. ET Saturday. The awards ceremony, including SEC Championship trophy presentation, will take place following the consolation round of competition.
South Carolina won in hunt seat 7-2, claiming fences 3-1 and flat 4-1, while the Gamecocks also won horsemanship 4-1. Texas A&M defeated South Carolina 4-1 in reining. South Carolina’s Katherine Schmidt claimed MVP honors over fences and on the flat, while Johnna Letchworth was the horsemanship MVP.
