Second Annual Palms Classic Horse Show CSI-W Benefit Casa de Amparo Offers More Prize Money, Added Classes, a Sport Horse Sale and Dog Agility

Coming to the Del Mar Fairgrounds Equestrian Center on March 22-26, 2006, is the Second Annual Palms Classic Horse Show Benefit Casa de Amparo and a World Cup qualifier grand prix with increased prize money, added pony and hunter classes, a select Equisales International Sport Horse Sale and the First Annual $1,000 Dog Agility Speed Challenge presented by Mary’s Tack & Feed.

Now with more prize money than ever, the Palms Classic Horse Show presents the $50,000 World Cup Grand Prix presented by Antares Saddlery, a World Cup qualifying event on Saturday, March 25 at 7 pm. The West’s leading horses and riders in World Cup standings will be vying for points towards a spot representing the United States in the World Cup Finals to be held in Malaysia in 2006, with the Palms Classic the second to last CSI-W opportunity to improve their standings in the U.S. West Coast League.

The Palms Classic introduces a new Equisales International Sport Horse Sale this year, featuring an impressive group of 45 show horses at various levels. Horses may be viewed and tried Thursday, Friday and Saturday with an exhibition class for auction horses Thursday afternoon, and free jump exhibition Saturday at 10 am. Equisales International Sport Horse Sale partners Dale Harvey and Heather Fogarty are now accepting nominations, and interested parties may contact Fogarty directly at (619) 249-1374. VDL Stud from Holland will be participating in this auction consigning several horses which will ship over especially for this event. VDL Stud stands some of the worlds most successful stallions, such as Indoctro, Chin Chin, Wellington and many more. You can expect to see direct offspring of these stallions at the auction. This is the second sale hosted in conjunction with Harvey’s World Cup Qualifier horse shows held at the Del Mar Arena, following popular initial success at the Del Mar International Horse Show this past September.

Added classes to this year’s show include conformation and pony hunters, with additional hunter classics. An additional show highlight includes the $5,000 WCAR Prix de Nations and Spruce Meadows selection trials.

The Palms Classic Horse Show offers ringside Grand Prix Gourmet Box Seats, including hors d’ouevres and wine baskets, purchased with the Box Seat Order Form available online at www.jumpdelmar.com. Box seat tickets sales benefit Casa de Amparo and are $500, $750 and $1,000. Admission to the show is $10 and $15. Tickets are available at the gate, which opens at 5 pm.
