Lexington, KY – Sonja Keating has been named as Associate General Counsel for the USEF. She was previously associated with the Lexington office of the Cincinnati-based law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, where she practiced in the litigation department. A native of Lexington, Keating attended Transylvania University for her undergraduate degree and then obtained her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1996. Keating will work closely with Julie Goodman, General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Their office is located at the Lexington headquarters.

“In July of 2004 Julie Goodman joined us as General Counsel and Sr. VP, and we were able to save a considerable amount of money on legal expenses while gaining truly outstanding legal expertise,” said USEF Chief Executive Officer John Long. “Sonja will support Julie’s extensive responsibilities and make a major contribution to USEF’s legal affairs. We’re fortunate to have her join our team.”

Keating is also a Member of the Junior League of Lexington where she served four terms on the Horse Show Board for the Junior League of Lexington Horse Show, one of the premier Saddlebred Shows in the country. She is also a current board member of Good Shepherd Day School and volunteers in her community with Christ the King School and Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.

In her spare time, Keating enjoys running and playing tennis. She and her husband also keep busy with their three daughters, 5-year-old Caroline, 4-year-old Kincaid, and 2-year-old Anna Kate.
