by Stephex Masters | Aug 24, 2014, 3:54 PM

After five days of top show jumping and impressive entertainment, the first ever edition of the Stephex Masters in Wolvertem came to an end. Ten thousands of spectators, riders, owners, sponsors and other partners left the showground with great memories. The top three of the STX Horseboxes Grand Prix afterwards expressed their appreciation of this new world class event near Brussels. Grand Prix winner and world number five Kent Farrington: ‘I don’t know what more you can ask from a horse show.’ Lauren Hough added she was delighted to ride for such an impressive number of spectators.

After two second places on Friday, America’s number one and number five in the world Kent Farrington has won the STX Horseboxes Grand Prix. He steered the Dutch horse Willow flawless over every fence. For the second time this week he was just a fraction faster than his compatriot Lauren Hough (Ohlala), and this time his effort resulted in the victory. On Friday Marco Kutscher beat Farrington and Hough in the battle about the Land Rover. On Sunday night the top two Americans and the third placed Frenchman Simon Delestre were offered each one “2 horse truck by STX”. Farrington chose the black one and may keep it forever. Hough picked the white one and drives it for two years. Delestre had to take the orange colored one and brings it back next year.

The course, designed by the highly respected Italian architect Uliano Vezzani, was worth five stars just like every other detail of this new event. Top sport was guaranteed on Sunday afternoon, as it took until far over halfway of the Grand Prix before Michael Whitaker succeeded in the first clear round. Finally a great number of four horses came back in the jump-off. In that tiebreaker Simon Delestre and Michael Whitaker first took too much risks, which resulted in penalty points. Lauren Hough, normally unbeaten in speed when she rides Ohlala, missed a great turn to fence three, lost time , but stayed clear. Farrington made a better turn and there he won the Grand Prix....read the rest and see photos at www.stephexmasters.com.
