The Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) is proud to announce that they are relocating their headquarters from Sisters, OR, to Lexington, KY. This move will enable the Friesian to increase its visibility in the North American equine industry. Plans are to locate their offices in the National Horse Center at the Kentucky Horse Park. This relocation will also provide an opportunity for the Friesian to be showcased during the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park.
In making this relocation announcement, FHANA is also pleased to introduce the new Administrative Director, Bryan J. Quinsey. Quinsey comes to FHANA with an extensive background in marketing, economic development, operations and visioning. Quinsey's experience and skills are a direct fit with the FHANA Administrative Director role requirements; he has worked with non-profit associations, chambers of commerce, economic development recruiting agencies and volunteer organizations, both as a volunteer and leader of volunteers. Common themes that stood out in Quinsey's interview process and reference checks were his honesty, incredibly high work ethic, communication skills and achievement of measurable results.
Quinsey's interest and affection for the equine industry came as early as high school when he was employed as a groom, trainer and manager at horse operations in Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky and his native Ontario, Canada. He has worked with show horses, race horses and carriage driving horses. He has worked with numerous show horse trainers and owners, including Gib Marcucci, Don Harris, Charlie Smith, Jim B. Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler, Drs. Paul and Nancy Williams, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weaver. Quinsey is also a former contributor for numerous horse magazines, including The Hackney Journal, Horse World, and Saddle & Bridle. He is a former member of the board of directors of the Carriage Association of America, a former member of the United Professional Horseman's Association (UPHA) and American Hackney Horse Society (AHHS).
Quinsey has most recently been the Executive Director of the American Farrier's Association (AFA). During his two years of service in that role, he was able to increase membership by 35% through the creation of new membership benefits, develop alliances with other equine breed associations, and enhance the long-term fiscal stability of the organization. He was also instrumental in the production of the AFA's new weekly television show "No Foot No Horse," which can be viewed on The HorseTV Channel.
With a new headquarters and Administrative Director, FHANA will immediately initiate marketing plans to bring the Friesian to the forefront in the North American equine industry. These include plans already identified in their short and long-range strategic plan.
The address for the new offices of FHANA will be 4059 Iron Works Parkway, Suite 4, Lexington, KY 40511-8488.
