Brannigan and Richards Victorious at 2014 The Dutta Corp Fair Hill International

Elkton, Md. –The Dutta Corp Fair Hill International came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday as three- and two-star competitors proved their mettle over Sally Ike-designed show jumping tracks. Both Jennie Brannigan and Julie Richards produced faultless rounds to claim victory in the CCI3* and CCI2*, respectively.

With a clear effort in the show jumping, Brannigan (Kennett Square, Pa.) and Nina Gardner’s 12-year-old Irish Thoroughbred gelding Cambalda moved up one spot in the placings to win their second CCI3* and claim The Dutta Corp/USEF National Three-Star Eventing Championship on a score of 48.2. Additionally, the pair was named the USEF National Developing Rider Champions.

“When I first moved up to the Advanced level I was on a bit of a hot streak, and then I had a couple hard years,” reflected Brannigan. “I am just thrilled and really grateful that I was able to pull the trigger on three good days.”

Overnight leaders Boyd Martin (Cochranville, Pa.) and Stephen Blauner’s 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Master Frisky had a single rail to collect four faults, finishing on a score of 51.4 to finish in second place and earn Reserve National Championship honors. Allison Springer (Upperville, Va.) and The Copycat Chloe Syndicate’s 12-year-old Trakenher/Thoroughbred mare Copycat Chloe jumped clear to rise to third place, finishing on a score of 54.8.

Caroline Martin (Springtown, Pa.) and her own nine-year-old Argentinian gelding Quantum Solace earned the Reserve USEF National Developing Rider Championship title, finishing on a 57.8.

Richards (Newnan, Ga.) and Asa Cooper’s 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Urlanmore Beauty rose one spot in the overall standings with clear round to claim victory in the CCI2* and the USEF National Two Star Championship title on a score of 43.0.

“The horse is so generous and always tries so hard. He touched one or two today which always gives you heart palpations, but we couldn’t be more pleased; sometimes it just works in your favor,” said Richards of her round on Sunday.

Earning second place overall and the Reserve National Championship title was Kim Severson (Charlottesville, Va.) and The Cross Syndicate’s seven-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Cooley Cross Border. With a clear round in the show jumping, the pair finished on a score of 43.6, meaning they also were named USEF National Young Horse Champions. Marilyn Little (Frederick, Md.) and Raylyn Farms, Inc’s six-year-old Oldenburg gelding RF Quarterman jumped clear to finish on a score of 46.6, earning third place overall and the Reserve National Young Horse Championship title.

The USEF National Young Riders Championship went to Martin and Sherrie Martin’s 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Pebbly Maximus on 67.3, with Jenny Caras earning Reserve honors after finishing on a score of 71.9 with her own 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Fernhill Fortitude.
