– Talented young American rider Alexandra Crown finished her 2014 show season well, earning a second place finish in the Écuries d'Écaussinnes CSI1* Grand Prix at the Gucci Paris Masters on Sunday. With her own Basic and Zafira, Crown qualified for the jump off round. On Zafira, she had a rail down in 36.62s and finished in 13th place. With Basic,  she nearly won it all. Jumping a clear round in only 35.74s, Crown and Basic finished behind only Guillaume Canet of France and Pomme du Valon.

"The Paris Gucci Masters was an incredible show! I have watched the show via live stream for years, so it was amazing to actually be there in person and be able to compete." says Crown. "I brought two horses to the show, Zafira, who I've had for a year now and Basic, a horse that is very new to me. Paris was our second show together, so I didn't set expectations for us, I just wanted to have a positive experience and get to know her better. She's a very fast horse, so I knew once we qualified for the jump off that she had a good chance of a top placing."

Basic and Zafira will now travel with Crown to Florida. They will all take a short break from competition before the Winter Equestrian Festival.
