Lauren Hough Wins Opening GP in Geneva

by Andrew Minnick | Dec 11, 2014, 5:00 PM

After a fifith place finish earlier in the day with Royalty Des Isles, Lauren Hough (Wellington, Fla.) guided Ohlala to a win in the Credit Suisse Grand Prix. Their 35.45s time in the jump off was nearly a full second faster than runners up Ludger Beerbaum (GER) and Chaman.

While excited about the win, Lauren acknowledged on Facebook that the day was not a happy one for international show jumping. "A bittersweet win today in Geneva. So happy with Ohlala. She jumped incredible to win the Credit Suisse Prix at #CHIGeneva. But my thoughts and condolences go out to Athina and Doda during this sad time. The international show jumping community has lost a very talented mare."

AD Camille Z, ridden to success by Athina Onassis-de-Miranda, was euthanized after an accident during competition.

Results from the Credit Suisse Grand Prix are online here.
