Wellington, Fla.- Competition in the CDI5* presented by Diamante Farms came to a conclusion on Saturday at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival with the United States leading the way in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle Test.
After a third-place finish on Thursday in the Grand Prix, Kathleen Raine (Murrietta, Calif.) and Jennifer Mason, David Wightman, and her own 14-year-old Hanoverian mare, Breanna, went two spots better to earn victory for the Americans. The pair completed the Grand Prix Special on a score of 72.667%.
"Being in Europe really helped her suppleness and her whole way of going. I can see it in her reaction, her consistency, and the atmospheres we were able to experience there, which we don't really have here. It helped to boost her confidence," said Raine after having spent much of 2014 training and competing in Europe.
Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson-Silven and Divertimento earned a score of 72.000% to collect second-place honors as Jill Irving and Degas 12 of Canada finished in third on a mark of 69.078%.

Earlier in the day the U.S. completed a clean sweep on of the top placings in the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDI3* presented by Wellington Equestrian Realty Grand Prix Special. Steffen Peters (San Diego, Calif.) and Four Winds Farm’s eight-year-old Rheinlander mare, Rosamunde, led the way with a score of 73.745%. Charlotte Jorst (Reno, Nev.) and Kastel Denmark’s 12-year-old KWPN stallion Kastel’s Nintendo finished in second-place on a score of 69.608%, with Shelly Francis (Loxahatchee, Fla.) and Patricia Stempel's 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding Danillo finishing with a score of 69.136% to collect third place.
