To Split Rock from Near and Far: Riders and Sponsors Join in Support of the Innovative Event

by Marty Bauman for Split Rock Jumping Tour | May 15, 2015, 11:28 AM

Lexington, KY - May 15, 2015 - Over 40 world-class show jumping riders will join local Olympian Reed Kessler and her mom Teri, and Irishman-turned-Lexingtonian Willie Tynan, in the show ring at the inaugural Split Rock Jumping Tour May 22-24 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Along with riding talent, 20 national sponsors will join forces with 10 generous Lexington businesses to help Derek Braun deliver the promise of an ‘unparalleled show jumping experience’ for riders, spectators, and sponsors, at a revolutionary sporting event.

Kessler, the youngest-ever Olympic equestrian, and her parents brought their Kessler Show Stables to Lexington a few years ago, and have recently added another farm in Guttecoven, The Netherlands. Willie Tynan of Kilkenny, Ireland, is coming to Split Rock.  Tynan joined the Spy Coast Farm staff in 2014, taking on the responsibilities of sales and training at their Lexington facility.

Split Rock has also partnered with the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Foundation to dedicate a portion of proceeds from all sales of Split Rock Jumping Tour Hospitality packages directly to the Foundation in support of their programs.  Split Rock will also provide staff and patients of the Markey Center with free tickets to attend both horse shows.

Few who live in Lexington, the ‘Horse Capitol of the World,’ are untouched by the horse.  From art to realtors like Kirkpatrick and Company and Hoffman International; from veterinary care second to none, as is offered by Hagyard, to high-end gift shops with an equestrian flair like L.V. Harkness; from those who insure horses, such as Dietrich and Company Equine Insurance, to those who feed them, such as Hallway Feeds; from auto dealerships like Dan Cummins Chevrolet, to farm equipment dealers such as Bevins of Georgetown; all have a connection to the horse.  Surrounded by the beauty of horse farms and show stables in numbers unmatched anywhere else, Lexington businesses are eager to join the national sponsors in embracing this new world-class event.

Paris, KY Chevrolet dealer Dan Cummins partnered with Split Rock to award a brand-new Chevrolet Equinox, to the rider who accumulates the most points in the CSI 3* classes.  The Leading Athlete Award winner will drive away in his/her new car immediately following the $100,000 CSI 3* Grand Prix on Sunday.

“We are delighted to be working with the Split Rock Jumping Tour,” says Cummins.  “It is exciting that this is the only prize of its kind awarded at a U.S. horse show, and we are thrilled to be part of such a high caliber event!”

The renowned and respected Hagyard Equine Medical Institute is taking advantage of the innovative ‘All-Inclusive Competitor Package,’ and will sponsor Olympian Pablo Barrios of Venezuela.  Unique to the Split Rock Jumping Tour, “This package is just one of the features that make the Tour stand out among the other shows across the country,” says Derek Braun, Founder and President.  “We believe this type of approach to sponsorships serves the needs not only of the sponsors, but also the riders and the owners.  No other horse show offers anything like this.”

As an All-Inclusive Sponsor, Hagyard is allowed to invite Barrios to compete with all expenses covered.  Each package includes nominating fees, entry fees, stall fees, administrative fees, hotel rooms at the title lodging sponsor Four Points by Sheraton, a VIP FEI rider access pass for the VIP tent, and access to the FEI concierge tent for the riders, grooms, and owners.  Stabling arrangements can be customized, the stalls will be prepared and bedded before the horses arrive, and the initial cost of stall bedding is also included.

In addition to the All-Inclusive Sponsorship, Hagyard will sponsor the $15,000 Hagyard Equine U25 Cup, and the FEI Concierge Tent.
