Sallie B. Wheeler/USEF National Hunter Breeding Championships presented by VitaFlex Announces 2006 Dates and Locations

Lexington, KY – The 2006 Sallie B.Wheeler/USEF National Hunter Breeding Championship will again hold its East-meets-West format. The West Coast phase will be held at the Showpark All Seasons Summer Tournament Horse Show in Del Mar, CA, on August 30. The East Coast phase will be held at the Warrenton Horse Show in Warrenton, VA, on September 2.

This will be the second year that the officials will judge the West Coast phase and then fly to Virginia to judge the East Coast phase. Categories judged include Yearling Colts/Geldings, Yearling Fillies, Two-year-old Colts/Geldings, Two-year-old Fillies, Three-year-old Colts/Geldings, and Three-year-old Fillies. Judges name a Best Young Horse and reserve Best Young Horse in each of the two phases. At the conclusion of both events, judges will select the Overall Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Best Young Horse.

The Overall Grand Hunter Breeding Champion will receive the Dave Kelley Perpetual Trophy, and the breeder of the Champion will receive the J. Arthur Reynolds Memorial Trophy. Another trophy awarded at this championship is the Belcort Farm Perpetual Trophy which is awarded to the leading handler of the day.
