Post entries are being accepted in American Saddlebred classes at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair in Devon, PA. American Saddlebred classes begin Wednesday, May 31, and run through Saturday, June 3. More information on the show can be found online at www.thedevonhorseshow.com, or by calling the horse show office at (610) 964-0550; or, contact Ryegate Show Services at (717) 867-5643.
In an effort to attract more Saddlebred, Hackney and Roadster exhibitors, the show committee, show management and a sub-committee of Saddlebred supporters, previously announced some changes to the horse show, which is well known as one of the best showcases for the American Saddlebred and Hackney breeds.
One of the most exciting and innovative changes is the addition of the Devon Dollars incentive program. Thanks to the gracious financial support from friends of the Devon Horse Show, $20,000 has been earmarked in an incentive fund to draw exhibitors as well as trainers to the 110th installment of the prestigious event. Devon Dollars are specifically designated for exhibitors and trainers in the Saddlebred Division.
Raymond Shively of Rockport, IN, is set to officiate a full compliment of Saddlebred, Hackney and Roadster classes, including newly added Saddlebred Western Pleasure, UPHA Classics (in both the Saddlebred and Hackney divisions), Junior Exhibitor Three- and Five-Gaited, Ladies Three- and Five-Gaited, as well as a new Saddle Seat Equitation class.
As a result of feedback from professional trainers, a new work area, free from hunter and jumper exhibitors, has been added to ensure that a safe and spacious place will be available to prepare horses and riders for competition. The famous Dixon Oval will also be open to Saddle Horse exhibitors to work horses during an expanded schedule of designated hours.
In addition to excellent competition at one of the nation’s premiere multi-breed outdoor horse show, which draws thousands of spectators each day, as well as extensive national and local media coverage, the famed Devon Club, as well as several exhibitor parties will provide for a lively social scene to relax, unwind and celebrate.
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair is the largest multi-breed outdoor show in the United States. Located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, more than 100,000 people pass through the gates to see 1,500 horses competing in 350 classes.
