Dressage competition will be available on-demand and tomorrow’s show jumping phase will be broadcast live on the USEF Network.
Phillip Dutton (West Grove, Pa.) was first to go in the Preparation Event division after a brief summer storm delayed the start with Fernhill Cubalawn.
“This test is pretty easy for him now having done a 4*,” said Dutton of the gelding. “He can still perform better, but I was really pleased with him.”
Dutton also brought Fernhill Fugitive, owned by Thomas Tierney and Ann Jones who placed seventh on 47.8.
Lauren Kieffer (Ocala, Fla.) and Marie Le Menestrel's Meadowbrook's Scarlett performed a fluid test to score 43.3, placing them second. With alternate mount Vermiculous, Kieffer scored 51.4, good for eighth place.
Scoring 43.9 and sitting in third place is Boyd Martin (Cochranville, Pa.) and Pancho Villa, owned by the Pancho Villa Syndicate.
Team alternates Will Faudree (Southern Pines, N.C.) with Jennifer Mosing and Sterling Silver Stables' Pfun and Matt Brown (Petaluma, Calif.) with Blossom Creek Foundation's BCF Belicoso tied for fourth on a score of 45.2. Marilyn Little (Frederick, Md.) and Raylyn Farms and Phoebe and Michael Manders' RF Scandalous scored 45.6.
Competing in the CIC3*, team alternates Tamra Smith (Murrieta, Calif.) and Alexandra Ahearn's Mai Baum sit in third on 41.1 and Michael Pollard (Dalton, Ga.) and Carl, Nicolas and Stanislas Bouckaert's Cyrano Z are in fifth on a score of 47.3.
