Rotterdam, Netherlands June 21, 2015 - After a nail biting jump-off with 16 riders competing for victory, first place went to the American Lucy Davis and her 11 year old gelding Barron who rode a staggering 39.49 sec, almost 0.4 seconds faster than the number two Daniel Deusser (GER) with Cornet d’Amour. The best Dutchman riding this afternoon was Leopold van Asten on VDL Groep Zidane finishing in 11th place. In the jump-off 12 combinations finished without fault.

The American, who only last week graduated from Stanford University, was very happy with her win. Not in the least because the prize, a Longines watch,  made an excellent father’s day present. “ Today I had a little bit of luck. My horse has a big stride and was careful which meant that I could let the reigns go for the last two jumps”.

Leopold van Asten was very pleased with his two clear rounds; he was less charmed with his 11th place. “I would like to thank these riders next to me for the riding lesson today”.

Sports Director Show Jumping Yves Houtackers looks back on an event of absolute world class riding. “I was a little worried early on because of the many clear rounds but thankfully the Friends of the CHIO obstacle managed to catch a lot of riders out”.

President Belle de Bruin spoke of a “Ladies Edition” of the show jumping element as the win today was for Lucy Davis and the FEI Nations Cup was won by Great Britain who were guided by their Chef d’Equipe Di Lampard. This was in stark contrast to the dressage part of the 67th CHIO Rotterdam that was won by an all-male Dutch team.
