Barcelona, Spain -- Two members of the 2004 Olympic silver medal winning United States Equestrian Team in Show Jumping will compete in the final Samsung Super League competition this weekend in Barcelona.

Chris Kappler of Pittstown, New Jersey, who also won the individual bronze medal in Athens, and Massachusetts native Peter Wylde, now residing in the Netherlands, will join veteran Norman Dello Joio and Judy Garofalo, both of Wellington, Florida, to represent the United States in one of the year's most prestigious international competitions. Kappler was the only show jumping equestrian in Athens to win both a team and individual medal. For Garofalo this is her first year of Nations Cup competition, and she has proven more than up to the challenge, competing on 2004 Super League Nations Cup teams at La Baule, Rome, Lucerne, Rotterdam.

The US Team will compete at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona venue, site of the 1992 Olympic Equestrian competitions, where Dello Joio secured the Individual Bronze Medal for the United States.

Wylde will ride his Olympic mount Fein Cera; Kappler will be on Primeur 58; Dello Joio on Peace Train and Garofalo on Oliver III. Kappler's Olympic horse Royal Kaliber was injured in Athens, and will not compete for the rest of this season. He is reported to be recovering well.

Barcelona is the last stop this season for the 2004 Super League which includes eight top competitions in eight different European cities. Each of the eight teams represents their country and points are accumulated at each competition. The team with the highest total points at the end of all eight competitions wins the Super League title.

Due to the Olympic Games and the US Olympic Selection Trials, Barcelona will be only the third Super League competition in which the 2004 Olympic riders will have been able to compete. Peter Wylde competed in Rotterdam and Olympic riders represented the US in Aachen, Germany in July when the US team finished a strong second to Germany.

Barcelona will be one of the year’s most thrilling show jumping events. As the final Super League competition it counts for double points, so the championship is still up for grabs.

Currently the standings are:
SAMSUNG SUPER LEAGUE 2004 LEADERBOARD (AFTER ROUND 7 IN DUBLIN): France - 44.3
Great Britain - 32.5
Germany - 32.3
The Netherlands - 29.5
Belgium - 28.3
