Parker, CO - July 8, 2015 - Summer in the Rockies V got off to an exciting start at the Colorado Horse Park in Parker, CO, on Wednesday. The $2,500 Adequan® Open Jumper Class saw eighteen horse-and-rider combinations take on the course, with eight entries advancing to the jump-off in the II2b format class. Kim Barone, aboard Raven Ridge Farm's Rival, held the lead throughout the majority of the class. That is, until Alexandra Ozymy and her own NKH Barbosa beat her jump off time by merely one-third of a second. Summer in the Rockies V continues through Sunday, July 12.

Alexandra Ozymy is a 17-year-old rider from Dallas, TX, and is currently training with Christian Heineking, who also competed in the class.

"I just started riding with Christian about a year ago. He is always pushing me to be a better rider and always gets the best of out me," said Ozymy.

When asked about her unique show ring style, Ozmy replied, "I used to have to wear show coats every round. When I got to [Heineking's] barn, I was excited to wear cute clothes on weekdays [in the jumpers]. People also always ask about how everyone at our barn wears a braid [out of our helmet] when we show. No, we don't have to, it's just something we like to do!" she said candidly.

NKH Barbosa, Ozymy's winning mount, was bought last October and has been competing with Ozymy in the High Junior Jumpers. Barbosa was also recently the Spring Circuit Champion at Thermal. He is a ten-year-old Mecklenburg gelding.
When asked what riders she loves to watch, with the exception of her own trainer, Ozymy replied, "I really love watching Reed Kessler ride, she is amazing. I also look up to Hunter Holloway; she really inspires me because she is tall [like me], which can be hard to find a horse to fit yourself to, and she is just an amazing rider."

Ozymy looks forward to competing for the junior team in the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships coming up next week.
