- Summer in the Rockies V continued at the Colorado Horse Park Thursday with the $20,000 Wells Bridge Farm Open Welcome Stake. Twenty-seven competitors contested the course, five of which earned clear rounds to advance to the jump-off. The course was designed by Danny Foster of Canada, and contained a number of difficult combinations. In the end, it was Christian Heineking aboard NKH LLC's NKH Quanto that claimed victory and the $6,000 first-place prize with the fastest of three double clear rounds in 46.70 seconds.

John Pearce finished second aboard Karen Ball's Chantico in 48.63 second. John McConnell and Molly Precourt's La Belle Soiree placed third with a time of 52.04 seconds.

Heineking, originally from Germany, continues his winning streak at Summer in the Rockies V. On Sunday, July 5, during Summer in the Rockies IV, Heineking claimed both first and second place in the $75,000 Adequan® Grand Prix on two different mounts, one of which was NKH Quanto.

"[NKH] Quanto is a mount I have had for a long time, about three years, and he is just coming back from a colic this year. He is a nine-year-old gelding, and I am very happy with his performance," said Heineking.

Jessica Harries and Belle Glos Top First Year Green Working Hunter Championship

In the First Year Green Working Hunter Division at Summer in the Rockies V, the championship was claimed by Jessica Harries piloting Linda Law's Belle Glos. Harries showed true consistency by earning four first place ribbons and one second place on her way to the tri-color ribbon.

Kim Barone aboard Kathy McCusky's Indigo Girl earned the reserve championship in the First Year Green Working Hunter Division. On her way to the reserve spot, Barone earned three second-place ribbons and two third-place ribbons.

Jessica Harries, of Cypress, TX, has been working with Belle Glos, currently a seven-year-old, since the horse was just five.

"She went through both pre-green years with us; she was very successful as a five-year-old," said Harries. "Right now, [Belle Clos] is second in the nation for the national hunter derbies. She is a Hanoverian, sired by Fabuleux."

When asked if her horse had anything particularly unique about her, Harries replied, "Her best friend is her groom, and she adores him. She definitely has 'her people'".

Harries plans to compete Belle Glos in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, taking place at Colorado Horse Park July 10, 2015, during Summer in the Rockies V.

Competition at Colorado Horse Park continues July 10, 2015 in Parker, CO, with Summer in the Rockies V. Highlights include the $50,000 UHSJA International Hunter Derby and the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Classic. For more information and full results, please visit www.showgroundslive.com.
