- Registered Paso Fino Lluvia del Norte (Zia) and her rider, Lynda Zimmerman, finished in First Place at the Endless Valley endurance ride near Spring Green, WI, on Sat., July 4, in the 30-mile Limited Distance event. Technical trails covered the wooded hills and wound around and over grassy fields; it was a warm, humid day and had rained earlier in the week which produced slippery clay-mud in several places and wet grass in the early morning dew. Zia also took second place for the Best Condition award, a coveted award recognizing the horse’s fitness and condition for the sport. The award was especially notable since we also “rescued” a loose horse on the trail after its rider had come off, ponying the reluctant horse several miles to the next water stop.

Zia has completed more than 1,000 miles in the UMECRA region (Upper Midwest Endurance and Competitive Rides Association), and this is our sixth year competing in the sport. She also earned the PFHA High Point Competitive Trail award in 2010 (and Rookie of the Year statewide and regional) and her PFHA Legion of Merit award previously in the show ring. She is an awesome, versatile ambassador for the Paso Fino breed!
