Kalispell, Mont. – Cross-country day for the CCI3* division was an influential one at The Event at Rebecca Farm. USEF Land Rover Competition Grant recipients Kurt Martin and Delux Z were one of only three combinations to have a double-clear round over Ian Stark's track on Saturday, moving into second place. Martin (Middleburg, Va.) gave his own and Caroljean Martin’s 2005 Irish Sport Horse gelding an excellent ride in the horse's first attempt at the CCI3* level.

"It went fantastic," Martin said of his round. "The horse was really confident. He had a good gallop going, and I never had to push him. We came out of the last water and I still had plenty of horse left, so we easily cruised home inside the time, without pushing for it. He was very focused, and I'm really, really happy to have such a great results with him being green at the level."

Looking forward to completing a successful weekend, Martin added, "I'm exciting for this opportunity the grant has given me and I look forward to another great day tomorrow."

The jumping phase will bring the CCI3* competition to a close on Sunday, beginning at 2:20 p.m. MT
