Lexington, Ky. – Two U.S. drivers had strong performances at CAI Beekbergen against competitive fields. Held July 16-19 in Beekbergen, The Netherlands, Tracey Morgan drove to a third-place finish in the National Single Pony division, while Chester Weber scored fifth-place honors in the CAI3* Horse Four-in-Hand.
As Morgan (Beallsville, Md.) aims for the 2015 FEI World Driving Championships for Ponies at the beginning of September, she is competing in Europe to fine tune her performance with her own Fuego 88. Morgan started off in third place following the dressage phase with a score of 49.92. She and the 2001 German Riding Pony gelding had a fantastic marathon day, finishing second in the phase and sitting in second overall with a total score of 134.11. Morgan and Fuego 88 knocked down a single ball and had a handful of time faults in the cones phase to finish the competition in third place with a score of 139.91.
Weber (Ocala, Fla.) drove his and Jane Clark’s team of KWPN geldings to third place following the dressage phase with a score of 41.29. For the marathon phase, Weber moved down to sixth place with a score of 147.83. On the final day, Weber drove a stellar cones course, winning the phase with a double-clear round and finishing fifth overall with a score of 147.83.
