Led by first-time Chef d'Equipe Krista Freundlich, Zone 2 finished round one on a score of four and clinched Gold by collecting no faults in round two. As the pathfinder for the team Katherine Strauss produced four- and eight-fault rounds, respectively, on All In. Second in the order, Madison Goetzmann jumped double-clear on Wrigley. Kira Kerkorian and Nightmare 25, jumping third for Zone 2, had 14 faults in the first round and jumped clear in the second. Anchor combination Lucy Deslauriers and Hester delivered a double-clear to seal the victory for Zone 2.
"I thought all the girls rode great. They all really rallied to have consistent rounds. Maddie and Lucie with the double-clears really helped the team. They all contributed scores that counted and I am so proud of them. They are all great riders, it was a fun night," said Freundlich.
"Overall tonight was an amazing night. To have such a solid two rounds with my hrose and build up conficende, and to celebrate this accomplishement with my closet friends, it is really special," said Goetzmann.
Zone 1, composed of McKayla Langmeier with Promised Land (8,0), Kelly Arani with Artani 2 (12,12), Jordan Freedman with Feeling (4,0), and Ali Tritschler with Fantasy (0,4), earned the Team Silver medal. Zone 4, composed of Louise Graves and Zavira (8,0), MacKenzie McGehee with Unique (16,4), Helen Graves with Armani (12,0), and Victoria Colvin with Cafino (0,0) took home Team Bronze.
The team medal ceremony will take place on Saturday afternoon prior to the conclusion of the Individual Championship.
