The 2006 USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection Trials continued at Dressage at Flintridge, May 26-28, in La Canada-Flintridge, CA. This Western Selection Trial for the FEI World Breeding Championships showcased the region’s most promising dressage prospects in their quest to qualify for Verden, Germany.
Champion of the five-year-old division with an overall two-test score of 8.688 was Big Tyme, a bay Belgian Warmblood gelding (Saros–Elvira by Wenderkreis; bred in Belgium by Worfthoeve 3), who was ridden and owned by Marisa Festerling of Newbury Park, CA.
Claiming the Six-Year-Old Selection Trial Championship was Breanna, a bay Hanoverian mare (Brentano II–World Queen by Weltmeyer; bred in Germany by Walter Rauen) and ridden to victory with an overall score of 8.800 by Kathleen Raine of Murietta, CA, for owner Jennifer Mason of Orange, CA.
The third and final USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection Trial will be held at the CDI***/Y Raleigh and Capital Dressage Classic, June 2-4, in North Carolina.
