Deslauriers Claims Top Honors in Second Competition of $100,000 USEF U25 Show Jumping National Championship

Lexington, Ky. – The second competition of the $100,000 USEF U25 Show Jumping National Championship presented by the Porter Family, the Jacobs Family, the Jobs Family, & the Keenan Family took place Thursday afternoon at the CP National Horse Show. Lucy Deslauriers and Hester led the victory gallop in the Alltech Arena after winning the $20,000 Jump-Off competition.

Six combinations were clear in the first round over Guilherme Jorge’s 12-obstacle track to move on to the jump-off: Lacey Gilbertson (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Echo D, Kelli Cruciotti (Elizabeth, Colo.) and Chamonix H, Jennifer Gates (Kirkland, Wash.) and Cadence, Hunter Holloway (Topeka, Kan.) and VDL Bravo S, Catherine Tyree (Chicago, Ill.) and Enjoy Louis, and Deslauriers (New York, N.Y.) and Hester. As the final pair of in the jump-off, Deslauriers and Lisa Deslauriers’ 2005 Belgian Warmblood gelding kept all the rails up and blazed past the timers in a time of 30.74 seconds.

Tyree and Mary and Joseph Tyree’s 2004 Belgian Warmblood gelding finished just behind Deslauriers, for second place, with a clean jump-off round in a time of 31.41 seconds. Holloway and Hays Investment Corp.’s 2006 Dutch Warmblood gelding were the only other combination to go clear in the jump-off with a time of 33.44 seconds to finish in third place. The remaining three combinations had a single rail down for four faults in the jump-off, with Gilbertson and Seabrook LLC’s 2004 Belgian Warmblood gelding being the fastest to finish in fourth place. Cruciotti and Serenity Equestrian Ventrues’ 2001 Swedish Warmblood mare were fifth, and Gates and Jennifer Gates, LLC’s 2001 Swedish Warmblood gelding finished in sixth place.

After the first two competitions of the championship, Deslauriers and Hester are atop the leaderboard and head into the final competition on a score of zero. Tyree and Enjoy Louis are in second in the overall championship standings to move forward with one penalty point, while Katherine Strauss and All In and Sima Morgello and Orientales are tied in third with two penalties.
