The USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Selection Trials concluded the 2006 qualifying season for the FEI World Breeding Championships at the CDI***/Y Raleigh and Capital Dressage Classic, June 2-4 in Raleigh, NC.
Champion of the five-year-old division with an overall two-test score of 8.592 was Unitas, a bay Dutch Warmblood gelding (Niagara - Nellyzora by Harald; bred in The Netherlands), ridden and owned by Teresa Butta-Stanton of Glen Burnie, MD.
Winning both the Preliminary and Final Tests secured the Six-Year-Old Selection Trial Championship for Currency DC, a dark bay Oldenburg Gelding (Clintino – Cinderella by Classiker, bred in Germany) for an overall average of 8.676. The defending 2005 Five-Year-Old Eastern Selection Trial Champion and Five-Year-Old National Champion was ridden to victory by Susan Dutta for the Dutta Corporation, Inc.
The official USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage Short List has now been ranked and is posted on the USEF website. From this list, invitations for U.S. representatives to the FEI World Breeding Championships (to be held August 3-6 in Verden, Germany) will be determined.
