A tentative schedule for meetings held during the week of the Lexington Junior League Horse Show has been announced. Included in this schedule are board and committee meetings for the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA), American Saddlebred Registry, United States Equestrian Federation, United Professional Horsemen’s Association, American Hackney Horse Society and American Saddlebred Museum.
On Friday, July 14, the ASHA will be holding a Saddlebred Advancement Seminar and an Open Members Forum at the Campbell House Crowne Plaza Hotel. ASHA President Fred Sarver advised the membership at its convention in February that a mid-year open forum would be held, said Executive Secretary Alan F. Balch.
“Fred is in the process of appointing an Advancement Committee, which will oversee and advise on our efforts to improve our education and communication, as well as development initiatives,” Balch continued. “We anticipate a committee meeting in the morning, with the University of Kentucky professors who are conducting our market research efforts. A lunch and open forum in the afternoon will take the form of what’s called ‘Appreciative Inquiry,’ a session based on the assumption that the most effective, positive organizational change and progress for the breed can be accomplished through a dialogue among members and the ASHA leadership focusing on the strengths and positive circumstances surrounding breeding, owning and competing with American Saddlebreds.”
