Gothenburg, Sweden – The Gothenburg Horse Show will play host this week to the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final and the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final. Representing the U.S. in the
Dressage Final, Guenter Seidel and Charlotte Jorst will go head-to-head with 18 athlete-and-horse combinations from 11 nations. The field will compete in the FEI Grand Prix test on Friday, and on Sunday, the 2016 champion will be crowned following the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle.

Contesting his fifth FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final, Seidel (Cardiff, Calif.) will ride James and Charlotte Mashburn’s 2004 Dutch Warmblood gelding, Zero Gravity. The pair made their first start at the FEI level in early 2015 and have been strengthening their bond over the past year. Competing on the West coast, Seidel and Zero Gravity have marked multiple top placings in CDI competition, including a win in the final 2016 West coast World Cup qualifier at the Mid-Winter Dressage CDI-W in Burbank, Calif. Seidel had his most successful FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final result at the Gothenburg venue in 2003, finishing third aboard Nikolaus 7. He brings a wealth of experience to this prestigious event, having been a member of three consecutive Bronze medal-winning U.S. Olympic Games Teams (1996-2004).

A relative newcomer to the top level of the sport, Jorst (Reno, Nev.) made her debut at the FEI Grand Prix level in 2012. This week, she will bring Kastel Denmark’s Kastel’s Nintendo, a 2003 Dutch Warmblood stallion, to contest her first FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final. Jorst purchased Kastel’s Nintendo in 2013 and the two have gained experience as a pair in the U.S. and Europe. In 2015, they won the FEI Grand Prix and FEI Grand Prix Special at the Del Mar CDI-W and went on to Europe where they were members of the Bronze medal-winning U.S. team at CDIO5* Rotterdam. This spring, Jorst and Kastel’s Nintendo competed at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Fla., marking several top-10 CDI placings, including third- and fourth-place finishes in World Cup qualifiers in January and February, respectively.
