Show Jumping at Its Finest - Longines Global Champions Tour Mexico City

Mexico City, Mexico - From the sands of Miami Beach to the bustle of Mexico City, the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour is traveling from the shore to the ciudad. After a superb start on Florida's southern coast, the competition heads west and slightly south to the beautiful Campo Marte facility. Miami Beach Gold Medalist Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) will be one of several dozen top-ranked show jumpers competing on a gorgeous grass field in the heart of Mexico City from April 14 – 17, 2016.

Truly international, the list of countries represented on the riders list for LGCT Mexico City is significant. Highly decorated,revered and actively followed, some of the sport’s best and most popular show jumpers will compete, including 2016 Longines FEI World Cup Finals Top Three, Steve Guerdat (SUI), Daniel Deusser (GER) and Harrie Smolders (NED). Young Irish sensation Bertram Allen and several stellar British riders, Scott Brash, Ben Maher, as well as brothers John and Michael Whitaker will all be vying for top prizes this week.

The admirable talent attending also includes Kevin Staut (FRA), Kent Farrington (USA), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Christian Ahlmann (GER), Jos Verlooy (BEL), Bassem Mohammed (QAT) and Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) and a dozen more world-ranked riders and their top level horses.

This prestigious group of competitors will gather at an equestrian venue located in the Avenue Paseo de la Reforma, next to the National Auditorium in Chapultepec Park, in Mexico City known as Campo Marte. Having previously hosted Olympic Games dressage and individual jumping events, the location is dressed up and ready to host show jumping at its finest.

The inaugural event features a four-day schedule of 2* and 5* classes, with highlight events each afternoon, Friday through Sunday:

Sunday, April 17, 2016 @ 15:00h: GCL TEAM CLASS, 1,50-1.55m (Global Champions League)
