Intercollegiate Saddle Seat Riding Association Championships Take Place at Morehead State University

Despite gearing up for semester end projects, papers, finals, and even graduation for some, college riders still found the time to practice their equitation and patterns for the Intercollegiate Saddle Seat Riding Association Championships hosted this year by Morehead State University. Eastern Kentucky University, Northern Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Louisville also competed.

U of L had won high point team the first four shows of the 2015-16 season, but settled for reserve high point team at the championship show. This time it was UK who took home high point team. Their team members Natalie Sams and Mary Virginia Gibbs took senior high point rider and reserve high point rider respectively, and Karalie Andrews took junior high point rider. Patrick Kraner from EKU was the junior reserve high point rider.

Come time for year-end awards, U of L was the 2016 ISSRA champions, bringing the trophy back to Louisville for the first time since 2013. Reserve high point team went to UK, who had been high point team in 2014 and 2015. Year-end divisional awards were as follows:

Novice Reserve: Kristen Ghouse (NKU)
Intermediate Champion: Megan Woods (MSU)
Intermediate Reserve: Brianna Vitt (U of L)
Beginner Champion: Karalie Andrews (UK)
Beginner Reserve: Brooke Sauley (MSU)
Walk & Trot Champion: Patrick Kraner (EKU)
Walk & Trot Reserve: Anna Claire Schilling (UK)
