Lexington, KY – One of the nation’s leaders in the fight against degenerative joint disease in equines, the veterinarian-trusted name of Adequan® (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) has increased their commitment to the United States Equestrian Federation® family by signing on as the official sponsor of the U.S. Reining Team for the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. This is the first time in the history of the World Equestrian Games, that a U.S. team will have a corporate sponsor.

“We are very excited to support the Reining Team competing at the World Equestrian Games in September,” stated Allyn Mann, Senior Manager of Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. “This is an up-and-coming discipline on the world scene and funding for this team will allow the U.S. to send its top horses and riders to these games.”

Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, manufacturer of the flagship equine health product, Adequan®, also participates as title sponsor for three USEF championships: the 2006 USEF National Open Reining Championship, the 2006 USEF National Pony Jumper Championships, and the 2006 USEF National Junior Jumper Championships. In addition, Adequan® has been designated “The Official Joint Therapy of the USEF.”

Due to the rigors of competition, many performance horses suffer from joint disease. Adequan® is designed to help treat the underlying cause of the problem and break the cycle of damage, while reducing pain and inflammation.

The 2006 World Equestrian Games U.S. Reining Team, sponsored by Adequan®, returns to the Games to defend their Gold medals they received in 2002 in Jerez, Spain, a team Gold and an individual Gold. For full prescribing information on Adequan®, visit www.adequan.com.

There are no known contraindications to the use of intramuscular polysulfated glycosaminoglycan or PSGAG in horses. Studies have not been conducted to establish safety in breeding horses.
