Entries Filling Fast for Kentucky Summer Horse Shows Series

 - Kentucky Horse Shows LLC is pleased to announce that the prize list is currently available online for the 2016 Kentucky Summer Horse Shows series. The series features four weeks of competition throughout four premier hunter/jumper events hosted by Kentucky Horse Shows LLC at the Kentucky Horse Park. The prize list and entry form are posted at www.kentuckyhorseshows.com, and hard copies are available by request by emailing [email protected]. Entries for the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows close on Tuesday, June 28.

The Kentucky Summer Horse Show is scheduled for July 27-31 and will include the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby sponsored by Hallway Feeds, one of the five events in the $40,0000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby series, which will provide $15,000 in Leading Rider Bonuses to the series-leading professional, amateur and junior riders. Jumper highlights for the Kentucky Summer Horse Show include the $10,000 Under 25 Grand Prix, the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic and the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix. The Hagyard Challenge Series consists of seven grand prix classes to be held during the 2016 show series at the Kentucky Horse Park. Following the final event, a cash prize of $50,000 will be awarded to the rider accumulating the most points throughout the series as well as a $10,000 prize for the reserve champion.

The series will continue with the Kentucky Summer Classic held August 2-7. The $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic will be held on Thursday, August 4, and then on Saturday, August 6, riders will compete under the lights in the Rolex Stadium in the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by GGT Footing. The $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby will also return on Saturday, August 6, in the Stonelea Ring.

The US Pony Finals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park August 9-14. More than 600 ponies that have qualified throughout the preceding year will compete for awards in the Green and Regular Hunter Pony Finals as well as in the US Pony Medal Finals and the US Pony Jumper Championship. The third show of the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows series is the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show. The Bluegrass Festival Horse Show will be a World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) member event. Hunter highlights will include the return of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship, which offered $200,000 in prize money in 2015, in the Rolex Stadium August 18-20. Also, the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Championship, which topped $230,000 in prize money in 2015, will celebrate its fourth anniversary at the Kentucky Horse Park, August 16-18, in the Stonelea Ring. The show will also host the finale of the $40,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby series, where the 2016 leading professional, amateur and junior riders will be announced as part of the $15,000 Leading Rider Bonus. Jumper highlights include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic and the $40,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix, sponsored by Audi of Lexington.

Wrapping up the summer season will be the KHJA Horse Show held August 24-28. The $10,000 Hagyard Welcome Stake will run Friday, August 26, and will be followed on Sunday, August 28, by the $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix in the Rolex Stadium. All shows within the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows series are qualifying events for the Washington International Championships and the North American League Finals.
