Shelburne, Vt.
- The American Morgan Horse Association, Inc. (AMHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Carrie Mortensen to the position of Executive Director effective August 1.

Mortensen comes to AMHA with over a decade of experience working in the equine industry, including positions with the United States Equestrian Federation, the American Saddlebred Horse Association and The Jockey Club. She obtained her B.A. from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, and her M.B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Originally from Dwight, Illinois, Mortensen has resided in Lexington, Kentucky, for the past 20 years and will be making the move to Vermont with her faithful Jack Russell Terrier "Riley."

Jeff Gove, AMHA President, said, "We are honored to have someone of Carrie’s caliber join us in this leadership position. Her educational background combined with her experience with multiple equine organizations make her uniquely qualified to serve as AMHA’s new Executive Director. We had four top finalists for the position and Carrie rose to the top. We look forward to a long working relationship with Carrie at the helm in AMHA’s Shelburne, Vermont headquarters."

“I’m thrilled to be joining AMHA and am excited to begin participating in the preservation, promotion and enjoyment of the Morgan horse,” Mortensen said. "I look forward to meeting and speaking with the membership and working together toward the advancement of this beloved breed."

Founded in 1909, the American Morgan Horse Association is a non-profit organization serving more than 50,000 Morgan horse owners, breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts throughout the United States. AMHA serves as a parent organization to more than 90 recognized Morgan horse clubs and national service organizations. For more information, visit www.morganhorse.com.
