by USEF Communications Department | Jul 13, 2016, 9:19 AM

Aachen, Germany – The U.S. will be represented by combinations in both the CDIO5* and CDI4* at CHIO Aachen this week. Led by Chef d’Equipe Robert Dover, The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team for the CDIO5* will include Katherine Bateson-Chandler, Shelly Francis, Arlene “Tuny” Page, and Steffen Peters. This competition is the final FEI Nations Cup™ for dressage in the series of six events that began with CDIO3* Wellington in late March. The U.S. is currently just four points behind Sweden at the top of the series leaderboard and will look to earn valuable points in the series finale. Francis will also compete in the CDI4* Big and Small tours.

“I am very excited about having this team here in Aachen,” said Dover. “It is the last in the Nations Cup series, which makes it even more exciting. We have been neck-and-neck with Sweden, so it will be a fun horse race till the end. Our team here is a super fun team; they are great people with great horses. We also have Shelly in the CDI4* Big and Small tours so it should be a really great show.”

Early in the week, Peters’ original team partner, Rosamunde, sustained a minor muscle strain as a result of a spook during hand walking. As a precautionary measure, the horse was withdrawn from competition.

CDIO5* competition will conclude on Saturday with the Grand Prix Special. The top 18 combinations will move forward to Sunday’s Grand Prix Freestyle to compete for individual honors.
