2016 Adequan®/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North Come to a Successful Close

Parker, Colo. – The 2016 Adequan®/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC) had five exciting days of competition from July 26-31 at The Colorado Horse Park. A total of 175 riders from Canada, Mexico, and the United States from three disciplines rode with determination as they vied for medals.

Special trophies and awards were given throughout the week. They were:

The Howard B. Simpson High Five Trophy, awarded to the volunteer who best exemplifies Howard's spirit of volunteering – Jennifer Little

Style Awards, presented to the riders that showed “style” throughout the competition, not only when mounted, but also in the form of manners and overall demeanor
Jumping – Sophie Simpson, Zone 7
Dressage – Gaylen Davis, Region 5
Eventing – Josey Thompson, Area IX

The Horsepower Trophy, which recognizes an outstanding horse from any of the championship disciplines who best demonstrates determination, courage, class, heart, and the ability to inspire athletes and spectators alike throughout the competition – Naughty by Nature, Eventing, Ontario

The Captain Andrew B. De Szinay Memorial Sportsman Trophy, given to the young rider who best personifies the high standards and virtues of integrity, sportsmanship, honor, courage, team spirit, good temper, and unselfishness – Anna Cardelfe, Jumping, Zone 10 and Ben Ebeling, Dressage, Region 7

The Pursuit of Excellence - Fiona Baan Memorial Trophy, awarded to the young rider in the dressage championships who receives the highest combined average percentage score from the Team, Individual, and Freestyle dressage rides – Nicholas Hansen, Region 1

The Albers Award, given to the dressage chef d'equipe who best demonstrates the same level of dedication, enthusiasm, and team spirit shown by Patsy Albers throughout the years – Joan Clay, Region 5

The Caristo Cup, given to the jumping chef d'equipe who best exemplifies Ralph Caristo's enthusiasm and professionalism – Morley Abbey, Zone 10

Coach Mike Award, given annually in honor of longtime coach Mike Huber to the eventing chef d'equipe, coach, or team support person who best exemplifies Mike's dedication and enthusiasm for the youth in the sport of eventing – Kyle Carter, Area III
